Why stretch?

Well we all know that stretching can allow you to move your body into beautiful and incredible ways, but are there any more benefits other than just pulling off some amazing yogi poses? Yes!

Here are just a couple of the benefits you can get from stretching your body daily.

1. The obvious one: FLEXIBILITY.
Some people may not know that in the exercise health world flexibility is a main measure of fitness, alongside muscular and aerobic.
Increased flexibility will aid in exercising easier, as well as some prevention from injury and issues later in life such as tendon problems.

2. RANGE OF MOTION.
A better range of motion within your joints and muscles has much of the same benefits as gaining flexibility. An increased range of motion will also assist in better overall balance.

3. INCREASED CIRCULATION.
Stretching is proven to increase blood flow. This means you will also increase the supply of nutrients to your muscles, which will aid in reducing muscle soreness or DOMS after exercise.

4. REDUCED STRESS.
Gentle stretching will help relax the tense muscles in your body associated with stress. And we're all stressed at some point, right?
Stretching also releases endorphins like with normal exercise, overall improving your mood and feelings of wellness.

5. LOWER BACK PAIN.
A lot of us deal with pain in the lower back, and a lot of us probably don't know that stretching can help us here.
By stretching the muscles that contribute to our posture (quads, hamstrings, hip flexors, latissimus dorsi), we can release tension while strengthening the back muscles and relieving pain.

So, whether it's light after exercise stretching or advanced yoga, stretch more! :)
